3D Computer monitors

I bought an Asus vg278 27inch 3d computer monitor for £430 on Amazon.co.uk , on 29 december 2012 533pm i begin setting it up but it is not going well ! , heres is step by step all the hassle i have had with it so far. 1st 1 part is broken off it apears to be a cable tidy on the back of the monitor, for now ill leave it but thats not good when your expensive computer parts arrive with damage.

You get a cdrom from asus with nvidia windows display driver installer which you extract to c\nvidia \ display driver\295.73\winvista_win7-64\english   so thats version 296.73 they give you, accept the licence , i did express install and i ended up getting
1. nvidia update 1.7.11
2. physx system software 9.12.0209
3. 3d vision controller driver 295.73
4. hd audio driver 1.3.12.0
5. graphics driver 295.73
6. 3d vision driver 295.73 , that all shows in a window on your monitor  by 539pm thats done

my pc was still on when i attached the hdmi cable but that didnt work so i tried the vga cable , i just saw the desktop background picture i use , no desktop icons or anything else, i unplugged hdmi cable ( that id bought on ebay for about £2 as asus dont give you one ! ) then i began to see desktop icons etc. by 559pm a few software programmes i use had crashed..a memory freeing tool , a way to count data i download/upload and open office documents were not responding, also enumerating display devices phase 1 had the hour glass spinning round ( 1st time ive seen that message)

then microsoft.net framework unhandled exception occured in your application i clicked continue to try and carry on, at that point i decided to shut down the pc as too many things had gone wrong !

when i restart i try with just the hdmi cable in but im told vga no signal. so i read the monitor quick start paper guide, that shows buttons on monitor to use to switch from vga , dvi or hdmi inputs , i see windows starting up ok , i press the button a few times and you see its switched to hdmi input so great im now using just an hdmi cable from monitor into my nvidia graphics card in my cyberpower pc.

later that day by 1113pm ..

next problem is windows update shows and is telling me to get nvidia graphics adapter wdd m1.1 graphics adapter wddm1.2 for nvidia geforce gtx 560 , the update is 226mb but the update fails..as its done before when i made the mistake of buying a philips 3d monitor but they dont work if you have an nvidia graphics card so i sent it back to the ebay seller for a full refund..they failed to say in their advert that the Philips monitor wouldnt work if you use nvidia brand graphics ! ).

next i go to nvidia control panel via control panel in pc m i go to set up sterioscopic 3d on the left in select a task, i check the box to enable it, then nvidia 3dtv play shows up, the test of the glasses didnt work i only saw a triangle on top of a hexagon , they send me to nvidia.co.uk/object/3dtv-play-faq-uk.html#q25 but that doesnt help and wastes yet more of my time..tjhat a bunch of frequently asked questions ( they say theyre faq's but dont prove that by leaving names of anyone who asked those questions),

30dec 210am the nvidia control panel is not responding.this is a real problem nvidia need to resolve as this happens every time i use it..it freezes up.
( my pc is a Cyberpower apollo gt ,cpu i7 2600k quadcore 3.4ghz now at @4.5ghz ..its overclocked by cyberpower ,motherboard gigabyte intel z68 chipset mainboard with intel smart response technology & 7.1 dolby home theatre audio , gb lan , usb 3.0,
graphics.. nvidia geforce gtx 560 1gb 16x pcie video card
,4gb memory ,power.. 850watt
,harddrive 1tb, os,, windows 7 home premium 64bit
front display nzxt sentry lx touch screen dual bay high performance fan control and temperature display..now with all that technology and power its fair to say its nvidias problem and not down to my pc.

the nvidia test says 1920x 1080 is not ok for 3d so try 1280x720 @60hz or 1920x1080@24hz so i changed to a lower resolution, and run the set up wizard but nothing happens !

now do i need 3dtv play software ? i go to controlplanel-hardware and sound-nvidia control panel-enable sterioscopic 3d thats when 3dtv play window shows telling you what youll need to get 3d working ..so buy buying the asus vg278h from here http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005XA2COO/ref=pe_217191_31005151_dp_1  does it come with this nvidia 3dtv play software built in ? it also says you need a 3dtv with supplied glasses and the nvidia 3d driver

hers the faq's nvidia send you to http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/3dtv-play-faq-uk.html#q25

problem now solved videos of solution to this can be found on youtube

How to install Avira antivirus detailed steps

this articles out of date now

1. Click the link just above to go to download.cnet.com/windows or open another tab in your Firefox browser by pressing control plus the letter T and type that address in your new browser window then you can easily flip from 1 web page to another instead of having to press the back button of your browser.
2. Type Avira into the white bar in the top middle of the download website. Make sure windows is selected in the drop down tab ( to select you want software that works on a Microsoft windows computer) then click the red search button to the right
3. Scroll down ( drag the slider on the far right of your screen) or roll your mouses button to move the page down, find the Avira Antivirus product i listed above for you to get. Get a piece of A4 paper and write down the name of the software your going to install ( use 1 bit of paper for every different software product you install on your pc) also write down which website your getting a bit of software from, the time you begin doing this and the full date eg 26 march 2009 5pm.
4. Click the correct bit of software from those listed by download.com in this case click Avira antivir personal free Antivirus 9.0.0.386 click that name
5. Write down the size of the software file your going to install eg 28.61mb which is shown next to the download now button, all software listed on download.com is Spyware free ( it does'nt come bundled with additional software that may spy on you) check this software is ok for the operating system you have eg windows xp, check if the software is free or you have to buy it..where it says limitations if it then says no limitations its free ( costs no money ), read the publishers description so you understand what the software is for, read the download.com editors review also, read some user reviews also to see what people who use it think about it..be warned many reviewers dont say much and are not experts. If you agree you want this software scroll up and click the download now button.
6. A small grey window appears write down the file name of what your about to install eg Avira_antivir_personal_en.exe select save , next the save as window opens so choose where to save this file to..save in desktop is fine then click save then and it will download into your pc if you have broadband itll only take a few minutes ( around 4mins on 8mb connection) to get small files eg under 30mb size. Then a download complete window is shown with a green broken up line across it saying how long it took to download. If using Internet explorer browser ( IE ) click run or if using Firefox see part 7. Then internet explorer security warning shows click run ( you then need to skip to step 10.
7. When downloaded a small Firefox downloads window shows ( if your using the Firefox browser) double click the Avira file
8. Open executable file? warning shows to explain that .exe files can contain viruses..which is why you always write down where and when you got software from and get it from trusted sites like mine www.Beingahuman.blogspot.com . click ok
9. Open file security warning shows, do you want to run this file? write down the publisher eg Avira gmbh tick always ask before opening this file if its not already ticked then click run
10. A small Avira window shows saying this is to decompress the installation files click continue
11. You'll see the install files being unpacked and installed..shown by a green bar going across the screen and hundreds of files wizzing by as they are unpacked. Then preparing installation shows.
12. Welcome to setup for Avira shows click next on your paper write down any tips they give on how to use it..eg to customize protection settings go to extended threat categories in the products configuration. then click next
13. Your shown a licence agreement..take a quick look at it..check its ok for you to use ie its for private use only..if your a business you need to buy a copy, you cant sell this software etc, if you agree tick the i accept box then click next, then tick the i accept its for private use only and click next
14. Choose your install type choose complete which is already ticked click next
15. Fill in your personal details..name email address etc, tick subscribe to avira newsletter if you want and do tick register as a user then click next at this point Zonealarm firewall security alert pops up if you have Zonealarm installed saying product activation tool is trying to access the trusted zone, application fact.exe go to the bottom of this entire article to my info on Zonealarm and check if i say fact.exe can be allowed if i do list it in my allow list tick remember and click allow
16. Your told by Avira your registration was successful, write down where you can get info on the product www.free.av.com click next
17.The Avira software begins being setup..installed you'll see the green bar going from left to right again. It says its performing the requested operations. Then installing components shows. ( annoyingly a windows pop up says your computer may be at risk antivir desktop is turned off) Again Zonealarm pops up saying Antivirus scheduler is trying to access the trusted zone sched.exe ( check my list of what you can allow at the bottom of this long article under my Zonealarm notes and decide what to do)
18. Install complete shows show read me is ticked..always read read me files, then click finish on the Avira window. read the read me txt file. write down where to get support for each product you install in this case www.Avira.com/classic-support and to contact them use www.free-av.com/contact. now close the read me file. Antivirus software will go wrong if you have more than one Antivirus product on a pc so now go remove any other Antivirus you had before you got this eg if you were using another companys product. Go to start/ control panel/add or remove programmes and find any old Antivirus eg Avg or Norton etc and remove it..click change/remove and the old software will be removed, tick remove user settings and objects in the virus vault if uninstalling Avg, at this point a small pop up window says Antivir may be out of date click the yellow window to update Avira.
19. Windows security center shows and says virus protections out of date just minimise this window.
20. Configuration wizard for Avira window shows click next, enable ahead heuristic, select medium level detection click next
21. Select extended threat categories window shows up , tick select all click next
22. Choose normal start click next
23.Perform a short scan is ticked click next , thank you it says so click finish. After a little while..
24. Luke filewalker begins a very quick scan hopefully itll say detections 0 !!! when its finished click end
At the same time Zonealarm says product updater is trying to access the trusted zone, update.exe ...again check if you can allow this from my notes. Then Notification tool avnotify.exe pops up...you should know where to look by now to see if you can allow this. Then an advert called notifier of Avira antivir personal apears..just close it by clicking the top right corner x button...every day Avira trys to get you to buy their professional Antivirus but the free version is fine.
25. If your old Antivirus says you need to restart your pc to fully uninstall it at this point you could do this. You have now installed the latest Antivirus..you still need to update it so that it can catch the latest viruses and configure it to scan how ever often you want eg every day at 2pm
26. After restarting your pc ( if you did this ) a pop up from Avira says you last updated more than 7 days ago, whether u restarted your pc or not right click the Avira logo in the system tray ( bottom right of pc screen showing all your active software.) The logo is red with a white umbrella if you hover your mouse over( move your mouse over it) it it'll say Avira right click on it then click start update. It may say your programme is up to date. (these next steps go to show that writing a list of steps is almost impossible as for some reason they rarely happen at the same time in exactly the same order..so some of the info is a repeat as ive already told you some of these steps but im leaving them here to show the order you might get them !. Zonealarm says product updater is trying to access the trusted zone update.exe ..again view my Zonealarm allow list decide if you can allow this ( you can ) then Avira searches for updates and will download them and attach them to itself so it can detect the very latest viruses. Zonealarm now says avnotify.exe wants access by now you should know what to do when your firewall asks you something. A window displaying an advert for Aviras paid for product shows..you can close this..once a day youll get an advert from Avira trying to sell you its products..i just close them.
27. Right click the Avira taskbar logo click configure Antivir select scan all files click apply then ok close this window now or it mat self close.
28. Right click the logo again click start Antivir, click view ( up the top left ) then admin/scheduler where it says complete scan daily right click daily at 12 noon click edit job, name and description of job shows click next, type of job shows /scan job available profiles shows/local hard disks click next, then change the settings to a time your most likely to have your pc on eg daily at 4pm, keep it set to scan daily but choose a time of your choice tick repeat job if time has expired then click next, selection of the display mode shows /maximized then click finish. The Avira window is still open so Tick to enable this daily scan. then close the window.
29. Right you have a new Antivirus product installed and set to scan daily and update itself daily so it can catch the latest viruses...now its time to scan your computer before the first scheduled scan to make sure your pc is clean right now and therefore safe to use !
30. Right click the logo in the taskbar again click start Antivir and click scan system now the 2nd main item down on the right, a full pc scan may take 45 minutes if your pc has say 450,000 files on it so you can just leave it running and go do something else. You must however check what the results are for your scans to see how often your getting viruses and to check the Antivirus has caught and removed the problems. Look in start Antivir-reports to find the scan results, you should look at this daily after a full scan has finished. For help doing these steps you can phone me in the uk on /// ( uk area code is 0044 then my number ) You can pay me using ///
I have just saved you £40 a year or so by providing you with free Antivirus !

Help with Choosing a new HD Highdefinition Camcorder

My first camcorder was a Jvc gzmg36ek it cost £359.90 from currys.co.uk on 9 Dec 2006 the same day it was £399 in the currys store, currys used to sell it for £649 then £599 then £449 in july2006, you get a jvc 1yr guarantee with it. See jvc.co.uk for their products. for defects in workmanship or materials call jvc uk 020 8450 3282, jvc.co.uk/eshop.php for accessories
My camcorder had 2mp camera,  it had a 32x optical zoom which I needed to film airshows in fact itll be great when you can get even more than that as at times id have liked to zoom in more on things far away, the 30gb harddrive was plenty I never ran out of space even after filming for hours on a trip to Newyork it recorded roughly 1mb per second so a I minute video would use up say 60mb of disk space, it came with powerdirector software to edit videos, and cyberlink powerproducer to create movie disks,

I used it to film a Newyork trip in jan 2007, numerous Duxford airshows, the moon, planes flying around my home city, my pond wildlife, my sisters wedding, lightning, birds, a cotswolds trip and much much more.

To see some of the videos I made on the Jvc camcorder /// these are all standard definition recordings as youll see the picture quality is very good already so I cant wait to get a HD camcorder .

The reason I need a new Camcorder is because on 6oct10 its broken..i accidently stepped on it ! so it lasted just under 4 years.I also lost the instruction manual during a trip to scotland in 2008 so my advice is photocopy your paper manual so you have a backup incase you loose the manual.
I phoned currys on 02084503282 they said dkavs.co.uk in horley nr gatwick £34.08 for an estimate incuding postage then £80 to fix plus parts
then I called jvc europe on 0208450 3282 they said call consumer support on 0845 310 8000
they said sontec electronics norfolk 01603 483675 or
Peterborough video service 01733 328888 £25 call out fee to collect it, then if its under £50+vat theyll do the repair, if its more theyll call and say part prices labour about £45 she recons.
Booked job no 15*** for monday 11oct10 they collected my broken camcorder ( I called them on wed6oct10 415pm) 12oct they said its £111 to fix I decided not to do that as the jvc camcorder is now 4 years old so I may as well buy a new camcorder thats better than the one ive been using.

So my search began on the websites of popular uk electrical shops like currys.co.uk after seeing what features are available I decided the Features I want are

  1. full hd 1920x1080 recording which is 4-5 times more detail than standard recording on a camcorder
  2. as close to 32x optical zoom or better
  3. simultanious video & photo capture
  4. Optical Image Stabilisation to correct hand-shake
  5. a remote control so when showing people my recordings on a tv I can sit away from the camcorder and tv
  6. 50 frames per second
  7. wind noise canceller
  8. progressive scanning 50frames per sec twice as much info as interlaced scanning,
  9. extended warranty option should I choose to pay extra for one

Now ideally ill find a camcorder with all these features but after many hours searching I cant find one built with all these features in 1 product so ill have to choose a camcorder that comes closest to giving me the features I want.
The Camcorder im thinking to buy is the Panasonic hdc-hs60 by looking at its manual online i can see that 4 camcorders are basically the same model ( the sd60 comes with no storage built in /the tm60 has built in memory of 16gb /hs60 is 120gb hdd , & the hdc-tm55 is the 4th model.
Using price comparison websites on 18october 2010 I found the following prices for the Panasonic hdc-hs60eb-k
( use http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.html to convert from 1 currency to another eg this shows £400 sterling/british pounds as being worth $635.46 american dollars on 18oct10.

a3.plugonit.co.uk £399.99 plus £5 postage when I went to pay using paypal it says hughes tv and audio trading as hughes direct requires a phone number to complete this order so ive asked them to explain who they are ! Theyre based at 259 felixtowe road,ipswich,suffolk,ip3 9bn tel 0844 871 2131,
pixmania.co.uk £399 plus £7.80plus , Amazon.co.uk sold by hughes direct £419.99 price has gone up £20 In 1 day !, Directtvs.co.uk £436.97, Simplyelectronics.co.uk £439.95, Panamoz.com £439.99, Digitalrev.com £449.99, Dixons.co.uk £455.85 , Onestop-digital.com £455.99 , Currys hdc-hs60eb-k £469, Tesco.com £469.97, Argos £469.99, Pcworld.co.uk £469.99,(was £649.99 18feb10-7apr10), Dabs.com £470.88, Jacobsdigital.co.uk £479.99, Jessops.com £499,Marks and spence £599,Warehouseexpress.com £599
This shows that you must shop around prices can vary by hundreds of pounds, lower down I list price comparison websites to use.

The Panasonic hdc-hs60eb-k has these features
hd ( high definition recording) 25xoptical up to *35x with Intelligent Zoom technology this can be extended to 35x with no loss of recorded resolution. o.i.s, wind noise canceller, touchscreen lcd,
2hour battery says computer shopper july2010, Review on reevoo by andrew derby says 5mp photos ? ,no remote control, can take photos while recording, awards its got include computer shopper magazine best buy july 2010, HA recording 17mbps is its best recording mode, 2h18 to recharge battery, lithium battery is £52 on amazon ..the same as the one that comes with the camcorder..2hour battery. ( tip go to the manufactures website and look at the products brochure/instructions manual to get in depth detail of the features on a camcorder your interested in
on thu14oct10 I looked at a pdf from panasonic.co.uk for the hs60/tm60/sd60
then look on youtube.com for videos about the product your thinking of buying, I found videos on the hs60 showing how far it could zoom , how stabilisation looks, how good the image of footage shot with it is,

bad points.. no remote control, after i bought it i found out that if you pause a video you recorded with it you cant zoom in on it with the digital zoom eg i recorded a bird of prey flying some 30 meters away from me and i only just managed to record a couple of seconds of it flying away from me..i couldnt make out what type of bird it was so i wanted to zoom in on my recording to blow up the picture and see more detail..but you cant, it seems you can only do this on still photos...my old camcorder did let me zoom in digitally on a video so this is a bit of a let down.

Prices for the similar Panasonic camcorders I found are sd60 £320 amazon, hs60 £399.99 amazon,£394.99 kelkoo-amazon-littlewoods clearance, £393 for the sd60 at cclonline.com july2010, £399 jessops , sd card recording, jessops sell sandisk ultra 64gb sdxc cards for £269

The camcorders I looked at but decided not to buy include the ones below often due to too low optical zoom magnification numbers

1 canon legria hf s20 £715 amazon 10xoptical
2 canon legria hf s21 £1064 elitegadgets.com in july2010 computer shopper magazine, 10x optical

4 jvc gz-hd300bek £550 argos 20x optical
5 panasonic hdc-sdt750 12x optical , £1300 , 960x1080 not quite full hd, if filming 3d you cant use the 12x optical zoom ! 3” screen
6 sanyo xacti vpc-sh1 £350 23xoptical , 4mp stills,

screen is touch operated so gets fingerprints,
10 jvc gz-mg680bek £408 shoppingbank.com 120gb 35xoptical 28h40 ultrafine recordings, camera ?

12 panasonic sd600 full hd *progressive scanning 50frames per sec twice as much info as interlaced scanning, *14.2mp photos, o.i.s, 12xoptical, 64gb sdxc card can hold 27.5hrs in he mode or 5hrs20 full hd
13 panasonic hs700 £844 amazon 12xoptical

Features explained..
1920 horizontal pixels , 1080 vertical
64gb memory written at 24mb/s hold about 6hours video

Brands that make camcorders include

Sony
Panasonic.co.uk brochure search function didnt work on 14 oct 10, theyre best camcorders only have 12x optical zooms which isnt enough for me, im used to having up to 32x which you need to see things like birds 20 meteres away.
Jvc.co.uk cant narrowdown results by optical zoom magnification
Canon
Sanyo
Samsung

Shops I looked in to choose a new camcorder included..

Amazon.co.uk but you cant narrow down results by optical zoom magnification
Argos.co.uk again you cant narrow down results by optical zoom magnification
Ebay.co.uk you can narrow results by optical zoom magnification but I wont shop on ebay any more as they recently emailed me to say they changed my password due to suspicious activity on my account..naturally I wanted to know what suspicious activity they detected but they refused to explain anything to me ! So im not shopping on ebay again as they do not care about their customers.

I recommend you use multiple price comparison sites as well as a few stores you know off the top of your head, you must shop around if you want to find the lowest price.

Due to the risk of damaging your camcorder you may want to buy an Extended warranty option...amazon has none, pixmania has 3 or 5 year options
but it excludes damages caused by accidents, lightning, floods, insufficient air flow or any other reason for which the manufacturer is not responsible; so id need to phone them and ask if accidently dropping a camcorder counts as an accident...if so theres no pint buying an extended warranty as thats what I want the cover for. Want this in writing from them before id buy.

After selecting the panasonic hs60 pixmania.co.uk says CUSTOMERS ALSO CHOSE:
  • An extended warranty (select after adding product to basket) if you click the extended warranty link it says they do 3 or 5 year extended warrantys but this doesnt show up in my basket !
After placing the hs60 in pixmania basket you then find a load of extras that cost more money in your basket that you didnt add ! You already get a manufacturers warranty so if the product fails in 1 year you get it replaced so this zen offer from pixmania at £33.72 is charging you for something you dont need.
Then they want another £8.50 for some loyalty card rubbish
they say Great reasons to get yourself a Zen Engagement

By this point ive had enough with pixmania.co.uk and no longer want to shop with them.

Final buying Options

Ill also need an Additional battery for the hs60 the vw-vbk180 has a max recording time of 1h45

I hope this info helps you choosing a HD Camcorder goodluck

bbc iplayer software is hassle to use

bbciplayer sucks read this everyone
i got bbc iplayer on 15jan2008, it only works on ie browsers not firefox...ie from microsoft sucks. its often impossible to download a show i want i get told servers busy..this is often the case for 2 full days..by the time i start downloading a damn bbc show by the time ive got it the next programme in a series has already been on tv so i end up having to record the whole series !!! i have a 3k dell pc quadcore 10.5ghz cpu....about as fast as money will buy 4gb ram yet bbc iplayer has the ability to bring this high tech pc to its knees... while downloading a bbc show i often listen to a cd..yet the sound gets badly distorted as iplayer nukes the cpu...bbc youve really messed up big time. also i hear fairuse4wm software can remove drm..digital rights from files..therefore making the expiry date go away...unfortuantly this doesnt work on vista which i have so often a file ive taken many hours to download expires before ive even had a chance to view it.. ARGGGGHHH !!! i hate the bbc. bbc MUST allow us to have drm free files otherwise why should we pay our tv licences if your not allowing us to view what you make with OUR MONEY ????????????? also when you do get files the save location doesnt name the files !!! so its a wild goose chase to find the show you want to view...bbc sort this terrible mess out asap. also ive had to repair the install of oplayer about 30 times so far..not good enough www.newhomeplanet.blogspot.com may have more info of use. pps even more hassle if you use peerguardian2 from phoenixlabs.org to protect your internet privacy if forced to use p2p to get files, ive had to allow about 30 different ip addresses the bbc uses so i can get files to download at a reasonable speed..yet the bbc provide no info on how to configure pg2 i worked it out myself. feel free any1 to comment on bbc iplayer by clicking the comments button below this article

buying a dell pc & using microsoft vista os

I use pc's daily so i know a lot..more than most home pc users and many It workers i know. ( in 2001 my first pc was windows me..bluscreened every day for years..shockingly bad os, went to xp around 2004..so much better, i need a stable pc top do many things..surf websites,  instant message. skype, burn dvds, write letters..open office, blog, use email not outlook as you cant delete multiple messages at once..yahoo is better, watch camcorder footage etc etc and im not a gamer but decided i want to play games so read up on this and discover directx10 is latest standard for great graphics. i paid £1720 for a £3k dell xps710 machine via ebay. It has vista ultimate..if only id believed all the negative info on vista in the pc mags...pcpro, computerbuyer, pcadviser etc all say vista is a dog..and theyre correct. since i set up my new very high spec pc...600gb harddrive, quadcore procsesser, 4gb ram, i was so looking forward to using a really fast pc...but microsoft have given me a pile of unusable junk called vista with the pc. i tied to review vista on amazon.co.uk but it looks like amazon dont like bad reviews of products they sell so theyve not published my rant at how much hassle vista is to use.

So far vistas media center crashes if i try to play a dvd thats made using the divx codec... hardly a rare codec but vista decides to crash, they say its divx who need to fix something and that divx are aware of the problem. i have divx plyer 6.6 and codec 6.7 and divx webplayer 1.3.1 all the latest you can get free.
Then pg2 for vista from phoenixlabs.org can go wrong and is blocked by vista from starting..every damn time you switch your pc on you have to remember yourself to switch pg2 on..come on microsoft this is utterly stupid let us say we trust a programme once and once and always want it to start when vista starts up.
Next bitcomet 0.94 can crash on vista..this popular p2p app needs more work too but bitcomet releases new versions every few weeks so its likely their poor testing failed to iron out bugs in it..it locked up and i had to reinstall it, windows task manager couldnt end the task.

zonealarm firewall shows there to be far more processes needing net access than on windows xp so far ive allowed about 50 processes access as i load new software on the dell pc. il list them alphabetically on here soon.

avg free antivirus causes vista to bluescreen so you cant put avg free 7.5 on a vista pc even though its download.com review says it works on vista..well it doesnt as you install it vista bluescreen of death appears i retried installing avg numerous times but its definatly the cause so i use aviva antivirus now which is free. the stop error code said fwpkc1nt.sys is where the error occured. driver irql not less or equal ...thanks avg.

as for the dell xps710 how do we turn the 4 front lights off ???? dont see why i need them on if my pc is left on overnight and im asleep..dell contact me.
the dell xps is huge almost twice the size of a normal tower pc, its quiet..great, 30kg weight, looks good, 4gb ram but only 3gb is listed in system info..see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605/en-us which caused worry the ebayer had ripped me off !

http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/snatch-ach is who sold me the vista dell xps710 his add valued the machine at £3000 in september 2007 but i got it for £1719 ( £1419 plus vat of £257.69) plus £23.50 p&p the quadcore intel chip the 6600 is worth £600 roughly alone ( found price via a few price comparrison sites and pc parts sellers) ! 4x 2.66ghz =nice fast machine , 4gb ram ( worth maybe £200), 16x dvd writer, seperate dvdrom drive, vista operating system... ( costs £301 on amazon by october 2007 was £360) which has great graphics but many software apps your used to using go wrong on it in my first week of using it. 30day mcafee trial..i deleted it..utterly useless to waste your time setting up antivirus that youll have to buy in just 30days. roxio9 software to burn files. big subwoofer and speakers good. nice keyboard and mouse. media card readers fitted. geforce 8800 gtx 768mb graphics card tp play games with which custom pc value at about £360 so i can play direct x 10 games in brilliant graphics.microsoft flight simulator x game looks great so far ( this wasnt with the pc i bought). 4yr dell at home warranty , 128mb ageia physx card for games graphics, 640gb hard drives..plenty of space , so overall a very high spec machine.. ill use this blog to review the dell xps 710 as i use it more, ill also review microsoft windows vista to detail how to use it and what problems i have with it so bookmark this website and check back every month for the latest info on using a dell xps710 or vista. Anyone else that buys a dell xps 710 from snatch-ach let me know how you get on with your machine lets all help each other out and work together to solve our problems with the machine or vista use the comments button to leave me any comments.

Another useful bit of software to use is noscript, i cant believe noscript.net doesnt make it obvious which os its designed to run on well..why??? ive run it on xp ok but now im on vista..you need to state which os's its for before we download it please..also you should list it on download.com. i find it useful but it would be so much better if you somehow tested javascripts and informed us if their safe to allow..otherwise all home users do is endlessly have to allow scripts on sites they use... mcafee siteadvisor firefox addon is only way ive any idea if a sites not trustable...noscript needs to be more powerful and inform normal home pc users if the scripts on a site can be allowed..at moment you dont do this so how can we know if a scripts safe????????

Just found that radio recording software called audio rcorder for free 8.8 goes wrong on vista though its download.com description says its for vista yet it runs ok on xp arggghhh more problems.
